I never hear anyone talking about the manual versions of these cars (especially the M6 Sedan) so I’m curious why they aren’t ever mentioned? Both are still on sale right now with their manual options. Maybe I’m all alone being into this kind of stuff...

in the case of the Ram, it’s probably because they have to de-rate the engine by 300 lb-ft for the manual transmission.

The manual big BMWs are hard to find and dealers are reluctant to order them.

I just don’t think most people look for a manual diesel truck. I work at a dealer and we had one sit for a looooong time.

I bought a 2000 Ram 2500 with the diesel and a stick, but I had to order it.

That’s probably the bigger thing, there are still people out there that would want a stick in their towing or work rig but not at the cost of that much torque

Yep. I live by one of the largest ‘M’ dealers in the country and they keep a few manual M3s in stock, but everything else has to ne ordered.

I searched for months for a Manual 535i ended up buying an extremely low mileage used one. The dealership where I have it serviced says it’s the only one they work on.

Well older rams like that were definitely more common with that combination I’m sure. this was a 2013 I believe, didnt help that it was an orange 2WD either.

ah yeah, RWD stick-shift truck? Lot poison.

Who the hell wants a 2WD manual truck?!

A lot of that is advertising. In the 2500s, it’s 660 vs 800, so only 140 difference. In the auto versions at least, the full 800 lb-ft isn’t available until 4th gear if I remember right, not sure if the manuals are derated in lower gears or not.

It’s because dealers aren’t ordering them, and nobody is buying them. I have a manual Ram that sat on the lot for 6 months before I bought it. It’s not difficult to drive, just slow. Definitely more engaging to drive than the auto, but seriously, who buys an HD pickup for the engaging driving experience?
More than likely the redesigned version in ‘19 will be auto-only, and besides a vocal minority, it won’t really effect sales.
